April Pond has written to residents in Fakenham and Marsham to support the protests about planned closure of the Wells Road Post Office in Fakenham, and the Post Office in Marsham.
In Fakenham, her letter has also been signed by Norman Lamb MP.
April said:-
The Liberal Democrats are completely against the destruction of
our Post Office network. This was a process which was started by the
previous Tory government with the closure of 3500 post offices, and is
now being finished off by the current government who have already
shut down a further 4000. They now want to close another 2500 post
offices nationwide this year!
What was once a thriving community network, meeting place and
successful business, has been destroyed. This government can't see
and support the rural post office for what they really do in their local
communities. Instead vital services have been withdrawn from local
post offices undermining the network.
Wells Road Fakenham and Marsham Post Offices have survived so far, but are now under threat.
The EDP has suggested that individual letters opposing the closures will
have the most impact, and I totally agree with them.
I ask for your help, please fill in the letter (available to download), adding any
comments and sending them back to me at my freepost address. I will
forward them to the Post Office consultation with copies to Postwatch.
Please help me fight the closure.
Kind Regards
April Pond
