As reported in the EDP: "Liberal Democrat and Conservative party bosses were yesterday analysing an astonishing swing of votes in a Norfolk council by-election which could change the perception of the county's newest Westminster seat. The Lib Dems moved from third place and less than 21pc of the vote in the Broadland District Council Buxton ward in 2007 to a win and more than 71pc of the vote following a by-election on Thursday.

April commented: "Nick has a clear view of where the party should be going, and this result is a great boost for the Liberal Democrats. The Lib Dems are the only alternative to the increasingly disaster prone Labour Government. Unlike the ever shifting Cameron Conservatives we are completely committed to saving the NHS. We have taken the lead in opposing Labour's hugely expensive and wasteful ID cards. It is quite clear from recent revelations that our data is not safe with this government. In fact, no one would now trust Gordon Brown with their weekly shopping list.
